Founded in 2001 by Mario and Claudia Marsiaj, Amici di Angal is a non-profit organization based in Verona, Italy. With over 40 years of dedicated volunteer work in Northern Uganda, Dr. Mario Marsiaj, also the founder of the Tropical Diseases Center in Negrar, continues to spend several months each year in the village of Angal, in the West Nile region of Uganda, alongside his wife Claudia.
The aim is rooted in providing sustainable support to the local community of Angal. Initially focusing on healthcare, our efforts alongside St. Luke’s Hospital have helped it become the twelfth busiest hospital in Uganda. Today, we extend our commitment beyond healthcare to encompass various social projects that address critical local needs.
The Trees Project exemplify our dedication to environmental conservation and community empowerment. By combining local expertise with international partnerships, we strive to create lasting positive impacts on both the environment and the lives of individuals in Northern Uganda.
